Most visitors come to Taveuni for the scuba diving. Somosomo Strait and Rainbow reef offers some of Fiji's best diving where diver will encounter turtles, fish, drop-offs and white corals. Taveuni is known as "the Garden Island" because of its abundance of flora and tropical rainforest. A walk to the waterfall in Bouma National Heritage Park is a must, as is the Lavena Coastal Walk. In 1991 Producers of the film "The Return to the Blue Lagoon" were so impressed with Taveuni's scenic beauty they based their film here.The island caters for visitors with a number of independent restaurants, cafes, shops and tour operators. Don't underestimate the amount of time you'd like to stay here. Three days should be a minimum. There are daily flights to Teveuni from Nadi, Suva and Savusavu.
