Detailed Map Beqa
The small rugged island of Beqa ( pronounced Benga) lies 5km south of Viti Levu's Pacific Harbour and is the original home of traditional Fijian firewalking. Beqa is a rugged, volcanic island and is surrounded by a 38-mile coral reef that is noted for its many dive spots. Just of the southwest part of the island, in the lagoon, is Frigates Passage - a noted surfing spot.Shark feeding anyone? If you are a scuba diver and want to experience the ultimate thrill of shark feeding you can join two Pacific Harbour dive operators and witness the hand feeding of shark in protected fish sanctuaries that are teeming with hundreds of species of tropical fish. Bull sharks are the predominant species of shark in the Beqa Lagoon Marine Park however you may also encounter Sicklefin Lemon sharks, Twany Nurse harks, Silvertip sharks, Blacktip and Whitetip Reef sharks and even the huge Tiger shark.
